Richard Sale has written more than 30 books, mostly illustrated with his own photographs. These include guides to areas including the Italian Lakes, Languedoc, Provence and the Cote d'Azur, Switzerland, Madeira, Ibiza, Cuba and regions of the UK . He is author of the official guide to England's Dartmoor National Park. His latest books include a history of climbing on the 8000m peaks (short-listed for the Banff International Award) and a history of polar exploration.
